We must sound like we're repeating ourselves when we seem to say that we've had a blast on almost every shoot we write about, but trust us, this 100% true!
It applies especially to the 2 days we spent with the talented guys of Invader Studios! The Rome based indie studio is creating a game that aims to take many of us back to fondly remembered days and nights of playing the original Resident Evil games! We cannot wait to play it! Keep an eye for this all new seasons of "Into the Badlands" on which we provided a truckload of action mocap! Stay tuned for a more in-depth case study! It's not everyday that you get to see some of the most talented ice skaters around! It's even more rare to be given the opportunity to capture their graceful motion. Creative Nuts in London recently approached The Mocap Studio to do just that. The motion was used to create an alternative intro to the popular ITV series "Dancing on Ice". We could bore you with all the technical details that went into recording this epic motion, but really, it was just great fun and an incredible experience! Don't forget to check out the show!
We've been hard at work rendering a little promo for ourselves based on some of our best in-house mocap sessions. Thanks to everyone who helped makes this a reality in record time!
If you haven't seen it yet, head to our front-page! Recently, we had the honour of being interviewed by XSENS about their new solver and about the work we did on the Wimbledon "under the skin" ident with No Ghost Studios.
"The Last Martian" is a project in development at the Mocap Studio. The latest technology in real-time facial mocap and body mocap is being put in use on this cutting edge project.
Few forms of martial-arts are as challenging to capture as Wushu. The speed, torque and breaks, that makes Wushu the unmistakable stable of china-town films, are one of the hardest types of movements to capture. Compound this with the need for at least two performers interacting with each other in long, mid and short distance hits and grapples, and you have a recipe for mocap disaster.
For this test we enlisted the help of IC-Movement London's premiere resource of movement performers. After listing our technical requirements ("hi, we'd like two baddass wushu people, please!"), Adam Rae provided us with 2 world class wushu experts. Steve Coleman and Ivo Arsts (pictured below). Thanks to our beloved mocap hardware we were able to record almost 26 minutes of challenging fight routines in a single (short) day of capture. If your project requires fast paced action, weapons and multiple performers, well, now you know where to go. ;) The Mocap Studio is very proud to be able to show off the work we did in collaboration with NoGhost and Friends Electric. We were responsible for the motion capture of the athlete tennis player. Working with NoGhost and Friends Electric is always an absolute pleasure and we're looking forward to many more collaborations with them! The last few weeks have been very exciting at the Mocap Studio! We've been hard at work consolidating our company structure and helping Nagapi develop and test their ground breaking facial capture system! But one of the most exciting developments this week was receiving our XSENS motion capture suit! It's the latest and greatest XSENS has to offer and currently the best motion capture suit money can buy! Our services are staying at the same price, but our output will be of an even higher quality than before!
